Caravanning from the back seat: The most eye catching buildings in Australia

Below is an article by Tom McGay for our regular Caravanning from the back-seat feature.

From yacht sized rams to a banana longer than a bus, Australia has its fair share of strange and unique buildings. Stemming from all across the country, below are some buildings you and your family have to see for yourselves.

Ned Kelly, Glenrowan

Love or hate him you have to admit, This olden day statue is quite cool. Visiting this myself I was startled by how tall this statue really is. My siblings were also were fascinated by his amour.

Great Ocean Road

From visiting the Great Ocean Road many times, something that always stick out to me are some the houses viewable from the road. Whether it’s the outdoor glass bridge or the infinity pool, I guarantee you’ll be astonished by these architectural masterpieces.

The Big Banana, Coffs Harbour

Different to the rest, this awesome yacht sized banana is actually an opening for a theme park! The Big Banana is definitely worth a day out with banana themed attractions for fun all day.

HMAS Otway Submarine, Holbrook

When visiting this life size submarine statue I was shocked. I couldn’t believe how big this thing was and couldn’t help but research about this statue and what it’s about!

Wood Bagots Building, Adelaide

Although this building was not intended to become a tourist attraction, it’s become a popular spot to visit for tourists travelling in Adelaide. The building looks like its defying gravity and you must see it with your own eyes!

Fremantle Prison

I’ve touched on this awesome attraction in the past but I had to include it in this list as it’s towers, cells and more all are eye-catching and so intriguing.

Swell Sculpture Festival, Currumbin

When I say the best for last, I really mean it. Spring weather, incredible sculptures and Queensland’s beautiful beaches when you put all those things together not much can go wrong. Every year during September sculptures flood Currumbin that you must see!

Australia does well for itself when it comes to architecture, so don’t waste it and see it’s beauty for yourself!
