Caravanning from the backseat: Merimbula Edition

Below is an article by Tom McGay for our regular Caravanning from the back seat feature.

Autumn and the first term school holidays are just around the corner, and I’ve got just the destination for you and your family. Merimbula is one of the best autumn destinations Australia has to offer, it’s perfect for families, and below is just why Merimbula is so special.

For the size of this town, it has an unbelievable amount of attractions. The stunning Merimbula Marina and the whale and dolphin watching on offer, will keep all travellers happy this season. The Sapphire Coast has some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen and Merimbula definitely pulls its weight in that sense. The thing that also sets Merimbula apart is the national parks and reserves, such as the Potoroo Palace, Ford Park and Playground.

The cozy and cruisey nature of Merimbula is just perfect for families, especially at nighttime in the heart of town. Lots of visitors love to eat out at the Merimbula Lakeview Hotel Bar and Grill, then afterwards set out on a walk along the pier among the beautiful lights and astonishing views. I always have to give you a hidden gem for each town and Merimbula’s is no exception. The Seaside Market is a local favourite with a crazy range of different things on offer. Merimbula locals love this market and if you’d like to go, it’s every 3rd Sunday of the month, and is located at Ford Oval.

With many caravanning options at Merimbula or anywhere along the Sapphire Coast, get down to Merimbula these holidays with your family and support local business!
