If you haven’t already, add the 51st Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival to your bucket list. It’s an unforgettable experience – in fact, it’s so good that there are people who have been making a pilgrimage to Tamworth for more than 25 years.

The 10-day event sees hundreds of artists performing across a number of venues and in the streets, with tens of thousands of festival-goers descending on Tamworth each year. A favourite with caravanners and campers alike, the festival offers something for everyone. Local sporting fields are also converted into makeshift camping grounds, with some caravanners beginning their annual journey to Tamworth from late December.

True to its country roots, the festival offers a mix of genres, including traditional, Americana, blues, roots, alternative country, bluegrass, honky-tonk, and many more. You don’t need to be a country music fan to enjoy the festival, as Tamworth’s main thoroughfare – Peel Street – is turned over to pedestrians, who enjoy buskers, street art, street performers and market stalls. A dedicated food zone allows festival-goers to sample all kinds of cuisines, and there is plenty of family fun to be had with carnival rides, show bags and games. There is an opportunity to get up close and personal with performers in a dynamic Toyota FanZone precinct, and at night the festival comes alive with artists performing in pubs, clubs and even cafes.

For more than 50 years, the Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival has been providing good times and unforgettable memories. The careers of Keith Urban, Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers, Beccy Cole and Lee Kernaghan have all been launched in Tamworth, making it the only place to see the biggest names in country music.
