Forbes is known for its charming heritage buildings and rich history. Discover the magnificent architecture across the town that speaks of their gold rush past, or learn about Wiradjuri culture at the Wiradjuri Dreaming Centre. Here, you can view the ‘story poles’ detailing important aspects of culture along the Lake Forbes walking and cycle path.

If unwinding in nature is your thing, Lake Forbes is the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon picnic. Alternatively, take a stroll along the almost 10 kilometres of pathway that surrounds the Lake from the Wiradjuri Dreaming Centre to the Forbes Ski Dam.

For bird enthusiasts, a visit to the nature reserve at Gum Swamp Bird Hide is a must. Check out the newly erected viewing platforms and spot the different species of birds that the area attracts.

Gum Swamp is also the location of the first sculpture of the incredible Sculpture Down the Lachlan (SDL) art trail. The trail then continues along the Lachlan River from Forbes to Condobolin.

Not to be underestimated is the unique boutique shopping experience in Forbes, where you’re bound to find something amazing (for yourself, or someone else!).
