Australia is one of the most beautiful places to travel in a caravan, with lots of untouched wilderness and stunning natural sights to see. Camping has never been more comfortable, safe and easy with lots of gear developments out there. With so many options to choose from, it can be a challenge to work out what gear to invest in. Here are some of our top gear picks for a comfortable and memorable trip in the great outdoors.
Spirit level and levelling equipment
One of the most important things when camping is to make sure that your caravan is kept level. If you park it on too much of a lean, it can mean your doors won’t be able to shut properly, or your water won’t be able to drain properly. With the spirit level, you can check your left to right, and your front and back levels too, and get the perfect level of lean.
Hose connections
Making sure that you can easily connect to water and access it is really important when you’re camping, so that you can use it for cleaning, drinking and cooking. Every camp site has different set-ups for water and waste connections, so make sure that you have a range of different hose lengths and connections on hand. It’s usually a camp site requirement that grey water is removed, as still water can attract bacteria, mosquitoes and cause a bad smell.
Toolkit and spare wheels
It’s always good to have spares and a toolkit onboard for any emergency situation that may arise – you might not always have the luxury of a mobile mechanic or service station to turn to if something goes wrong! Consider having wheel braces, wrenches, tyre leavers, air compressors, a screwdriver set, sealant and wheel blocks as part of your kit and you’ll be prepared for whatever may come your way!
