Lithgow to Orange
Lithgow is on the western edge of the Blue Mountains and is absolute heaven for anyone that enjoys delicious food and the crisp outdoors. Treat yourself to some incredible cheese at the Jannei Artisan Cheese Makers, known for its multi-award-winning boutique cheese factory, along with its fresh, white mould goat’s cheese.
Orange to Cowra
There’s a never-ending list of things to do in Orange, so strap yourself in for an eventful time – regardless of how long you decide to visit the small town. There is a plethora of fine restaurants that you can taste incredible food and wine at. Some of the more distinguished ones include Lolli Redini, Racine and Tonic.
The orchards in the area have tours you can join, along with some of the farms allowing visitors. Feel free to go berry picking at Huntley Berry Farm, meander through the on-site shop at Hillside Orchards or tour Mandagery Venison Farm.
Cowra to Dubbo
Reaching Cowra is easily the most pleasant part of the entire drive – the cruisy adventure along Canowindra Road lets you scope out the rich alluvial soils that produces all the fresh ingredients you’ll no doubt consume.
The Cowra wine region is heavily celebrated for its top-notch grapes that are turned into award-winning wines. There’s an abundance of tours, cellar doors and wine bars to explore and enjoy, along with the Cowra Wine Show Public Tasting that is held during the winter.
Dubbo to Mudgee
If you want to immerse yourself in the breathtaking views, then take the Newell Highway to Dubbo where you can see the Great Western Plains – get the camera ready!
The Bell River Estate is nothing short of gorgeous as you can experience the knowledge of the winemaking process – taking down some notes might be handy!
From Dubbo, the last stop is the beautiful wine region of Mudgee. Premium brands that are a product of the area include Lowe Wines, Robert Stein Winery, Huntington Estate, Logan and Robert Oatley Vineyards.
