Make your way to the Macedon Ranges

Make your way to the Macedon Ranges

Just over an hour north-west of Melbourne, on the road towards Bendigo, you’ll find an area known as the Macedon Ranges. This little slice of heaven is dotted with charming country towns, which are home to divine spas and wellness centres, unique local galleries and nutrient rich mineral water straight from the ground. It’s no wonder that the Macedon Ranges are known as the wellness-centre of Victoria!

Trentham is a small country town known for being home to Victoria’s highest single-drop waterfall, Trentham Falls. The falls are the perfect place to visit during the cooler months, as rainfall only makes the waterfall even more magnificent!

Venturing into town, you’ll find quaint streets lined with boutique stores and fine eateries. Visitors flock from far and wide to visit Du Fermier, a restaurant whose French home-style cooking earned it a star in the Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide.

Get your walking shoes ready as you head to Macedon, home to the stunning Mount Macedon. Be sure to rug up as you make your way to the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross viewing platform; from here you will see sweeping views of Melbourne and surrounds.

Once you’ve had enough of the great outdoors (if ever), mosey on down into the Macedon township. Here, you can enjoy the many quality restaurants and cafés and breathe in the fresh air of the Victorian countryside.

Although Daylesford isn’t technically a part of the Macedon Ranges, this town – only 20 minutes out of Trentham – just can’t be missed if you are in the area. This regional town can be enjoyed year round. In the summer months, Daylesford Lake comes alive with families soaking up the sunshine. In winter, it’s the perfect place to while away an afternoon browsing galleries and enjoying a hot drink in one of the many cafés in town.
