The Western Australian coastline is full of beautiful scenery, history and culture to explore. Autumn is the perfect time to rug up, enjoy the scenery as it deepens into rich, warm tones and savour some delicious wines.
If you’re looking for an adventure, look no further!
Margaret River:
Margaret River is home to one of the most beautiful drives in the west. Caves Road is a winding strip lined with breweries, wineries, galleries, trees and wildflowers. Linger until your heart’s content, and pick up some decadent food and wine while you’re here.
For the perfect blend of wine and culture, we recommend Leeuwin Estate where you can indulge in tastings, tours and even cooking classes. Have a wander through the art gallery – it’s well-curated with a contemporary slant.
Augusta:
If you’re itching for more stunning nature, you’re just a short drive from Boranup Forest, a majestic forest filled with karri trees. Enjoy the ambient noise of birdsong and the quiet serenity of the forest. It’s a great opportunity to take some photographs too.
Head underground and explore the Jewel Cave on a guided tour. Jewel Cave contains many natural wonders, including the longest straw stalactite in the world and a skeleton of the extinct Tasmanian tiger.
Dunsborough:
Known for its pristine beaches and laid-back lifestyle, Dunsborough is a haven for those who enjoy the great outdoors. Visit the Indijup Natural Spa just past Yallingup, to witness the natural-formed ocean spa and bath. The movement from the ocean acts as jets, perfect for a much-needed recharge.
If bushwalking and birdwatching are on your agenda, head towards Sugarloaf Rock. With elevated lookouts, you may even catch a glimpse of the red-tailed tropic bird.
