South Australia’s best roses

South Australia is sure to deliver when it comes to finding the perfect pink drink. Here, we bring you this ultimate guide to the state’s most picturesque cellar doors, each offering a delectable drop of the perfect summer sipper: rosé.

Turkey Flat, Barossa Valley

Turkey Flat is located at the edge of Tanunda and its cellar door is a rustic bluestone building surrounded by historical vines dating back to 1847. The Turkey Flat Rosé is the result of nearly 30 years of refinement of technique. It’s a modern Australian rosé, an intensely flavoured pink wine with hints of tangerine and red berries.

Bird in Hand, Adelaide Hills

Bird in Hand is a family-run winery that has a focus on producing wine sustainably. The 2020 Bird in Hand Pino Nero Rosé is a must-try. This vegan-friendly wine is made from hand-picked grapes from the estate winery in Woodley. The blush-coloured beverage tastes of strawberries, Italian herbs and a hint of rose. Enjoy it chilled or with a fruity summer dessert.

Down the Rabbit Hole, McLaren Vale

Down the Rabbit Hole is one of South Australia’s most Instagrammable wineries, and is the perfect spot to spend a summer’s day. The menu here focuses on local produce and is sure to leave your tastebuds singing. The Friends and Lovers Rosé is a pale watermelon colour, and has fresh apricot and berry tones, and will be a lovely addition to your summer drinks menu.

Golding Wines, Adelaide Hills

Golding Wines welcomes visitors to its family-built sandstone barn, which is surrounded by lush gardens, terraces and ancient gums. The East End Pinot Noir Rosé is sure to ignite your senses. It has a pale salmon hue, with hints of strawberries and cream, and a savoury, crisp finish.

Paxton Wines, McLaren Vale

The Paxton Wines cellar door is located in a rustic 1850s shearing shed surrounded by lawns and historical stone buildings. Paxton Wines is known for its organic and biodynamic drops. This produces expressive and pure fruit, which you can taste in its delicious NOW (Natural Organic Wine) Rosé. With hints of grapefruit peel and Davidson plum, it is perfectly refreshing on a hot summer’s day.
