Traversing more than 700 kilometres, the Yorke Peninsula will engulf you in (almost) never-ending coastline.
From kicking back on a holiday shack where the beach is at your fingertips, to feeling the sand between your toes as you walk on that same beach – and that fresh salty breeze in your hair! This is just the start with this trip around Yorke Peninsula, as you’ll discover pristine beaches, highly secluded hideaways, bustling and quirky towns and national parks that’ll make you fall in love with Mother Nature. Here are some of the best spots along the Yorke Peninsula that we believe are a must visit.
Port Vincent
Situated on the east side of the Yorke Peninsula, the calm waters of St Vincent Gulf attract people all over the country. Its sheltered and laid-back coastal lifestyle is absolutely priceless, and its protected beach is absolutely perfect for any family. The crystal-clear waters, famous wharf jump and delicious fish and chips give you a huge reason to stay and enjoy the serenity for a few days.
Daly Head National Surfing Reserve
On the south-west coast of the peninsula and probably only a stone’s throw away from the small village of Corny Point, the waters of Daly Head are famous for some of the best surfing in all of Australia. Even if you’re not that interested in the surf, getting into the water is something you need to experience!
Moonta Bay
This summer escape is the perfect spot if you’re looking to get away from all of your emails, group chats and any electronics in general. The long summer days can be spent swimming, surfing, embracing the Aussie lifestyle of the locals and fossicking along the shoreline if you’re looking for something a bit different!
Stansbury
While you’re on the road, getting hungry is only natural – all that driving can work up an appetite! This is why we think you should stop off at Stansbury and dig into one of the country’s freshest locations for oysters. Or, if you want a truly authentic experience, you be a deckie for a day on an actual oyster boat and catch some yourself!
