In partnership with Sunny Hill Distillery
Sunny Hill Distillery is Yorke Peninsula’s first craft distillery. Using the wheat and barley grown on the onsite farm to make its spirits, Sunny Hill Distillery boasts a ‘Crop to Drop’ slogan. The distillery handcrafts vodka, gin, liqueurs, whisky, rum and brandy, and many of these products have won awards nationally and internationally.
The family-owned and -operated distillery is located atop one of the highest points on Yorke Peninsula on the outskirts of Arthurton, surrounded by some of the best cereal cropping in the country, and with spectacular views all the way to Spencer Gulf.
Upon arriving at Sunny Hill Distillery, you will exit the bitumen and take a leisurely drive winding through the native scrub – watch out for the sheep as they like to snooze on the warm track. You will drive past the original stone workshop, before veering to the right of the sheds, where you’ll be welcomed with a magnificent view to the west that overlooks an ever-changing cropping landscape to the sea.
As you enter the distillery grounds, you will notice one of the most luscious lawns on the Yorke Peninsula – perfect for picnics, family games, dogs to stretch their legs, and for family and friends to gather for celebrations. While walking up the stairs to the function deck, you will again admire the wonderful views as you enter the tasting room, where you will find comfortable chesterfield couches.
From the tasting room, you can enjoying tasting flights of all Sunny Hill Distillery’s products – a wide range of cocktails, local beer, seltzers and wine. If you are feeling hungry, there are pick-and-mix cheese platters available, or you are welcome to bring your own food. On most weekends throughout the year, the distillery hosts live music and local food vans, trivia nights, and craft workshops.
