 The gateway to Kakadu adventures

Ngurrungurrudjba (Yellow Water) Campground is Kakadu’s camping and caravanning oasis in the heart of the national park’s spectacular landscape.

Located on the shores of Yellow Water Billabong and adjacent to Cooinda Lodge, the camping ground puts you in a prime position for one of Australia’s greatest natural spectacles, with the wetlands landscape a veritable Noah’s Ark, home to hundreds of bird varieties, kangaroos, brumbies, buffaloes and, of course, massive crocs taking centrestage.

Ngurrungurrudjba has been a haven for tourists for more than 50 years, with its shady trees providing a cooling canopy for caravanners and campers. At neighbouring Cooinda Lodge, campers can access petrol bowsers, a general store, a lagoon swimming pool, alfresco and indoor dining, modern amenities blocks, walking tracks, and some of Kakadu’s best fishing. This makes Ngurrungurrudjba Campground the ultimate base for your adventure.

Yellow Water Cruises operates from dawn to dusk, while Kakadu’s ‘icon’ attractions – including the Warradjan Cultural Centre, Nourlangie (great rock art), Maguk waterfall and natural swimming pool, Jim Jim and Twin falls – are all within easy driving distance. Spirit of Kakadu 4WD Adventures offers guided tours from Cooinda.

Ngurrungurrudjba offers powered and unpowered sites from just $29, while Cooinda offers glamping tents, lodge rooms and new luxury Yellow Water Villas.
