The Outback Way’s best bits

The Outback Way’s best bits

Winton

The hometown of ‘Waltzing Matilda’ has no shortage of places that you must see. Not only should you be venturing to the North Gregory Hotel, but the dinosaur discoveries are second to none.

The Australia Age of Dinosaurs Museum of Natural History features the world’s largest collection of Australian dinosaurs, so if you love dinosaurs, then it’s definitely worth a visit.

Alice Springs

There are so many amazing and incredible places to visit in Alice Springs, so you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to explore them all on your road trip. Anzac Hill is at the top of this list, as it’s probably the most visited spot in the entire town – and for good reason.

The town is also rich with history and culture. Places like the Old Telegraph Station and the Araluen Arts Centre not only give you a taste of historical events, but they also give you a chance to immerse yourself in the local Indigenous culture.

Uluru

We urge you to take your time here and immerse yourself in every square inch. It can’t be stressed enough how incredible the sunrises and sunsets are over the rock. You can book flights and tours that fully reveal the beauty of the landmark. Skydiving is an absolute must, but if you want to do something a bit tamer, there are heaps of walks that show all the best bits of the rock and its surrounding environment.

Laverton

Laverton has more than 100 years of gold rush history, so the number of things to see and do is almost endless. The most notable attraction is the Laverton Outback Art Gallery, which features some impressive silk scarves made by the local Indigenous Group, Malukurukuru Enterprises. On top of this, the Great Beyond Explorers Hall of Fame gives visitors an insight into the explorers and pioneers that walked the soils of the town.
