Visit the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden

In partnership with the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden.

Located on the shores of the Upper Spencer Gulf, with spectacular views to the ancient Flinders Ranges, you will find the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden. The garden showcases a diverse collection of arid zone habitat plants in a picturesque setting over 250 hectares. The Visitor Centre is situated within the garden and features a fully licensed cafe. Why not relax and savour spectacular views whilst enjoying a glass of wine or barista-made coffee, complete with one of the delicious homemade meals and desserts?

The Visitor Centre’s unique and tasty menu has a focus on local South Australian produce, with a flourish of native bush flavours. Let the menu tempt you – native herb damper with quandong chutney, or native bush-flavoured ice cream options, including wild lime, lemon myrtle, quandong or wattle seed.

While you are here, browse the gift shop, which showcases a wide range of South Australian gifts. Or add to your own garden with an arid smart plant from the plant shop – all grown in-house and ideal for areas which receive less than 300-millimetres of rainfall a year. Guided tours are also offered weekdays at 10 am.

The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden is opened seven days a week and has free entry. It is located at 144 Stuart Highway, Port Augusta, South Australia, 5700.
