Where the rainforest meets the reef

Where the rainforest meets the reef

There’s nothing quite like Daintree and Cape Tribulation – where the rainforest meets the reef and time seems to move slower.

If you’re in need of a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then this is the place to immerse yourself in nature and switch off for a while. The raw environment that surrounds you will make you feel as if you’re in a movie and the lushness beneath your feet will feel surreal.

With a coverage of about 1200 square kilometres – from Mossman Gorge to Bloomfield River – the Daintree Rainforest features thousands of species of birds, animals and reptiles, and is suspected to be 180 million years old. It also contains an assortment of ancient plants that are completely unique to the area.

Luckily, Daintree is accessible on a day trip without even breaking a sweat. You might sweat on the hiking trails and boardwalks though, as you venture along the waters of the Mossman River. Make sure you swim in Emmagen Creek to cool down!

The Daintree River is arguably one of the best places in all of Tropical North Queensland to spot crocodiles, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled!

Finally, Cape Tribulation is where two World Heritage Sites converge – the Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. Treat yourself to some snorkelling in the Mackay and Undine reefs for the experience of a lifetime!
